Leon - from time to time, I like to recognize exceptional efforts by
individuals that go beyond the call of duty. With this in mind, I would
like to personally thank you for helping to translate my presentation for
Vice President Gore and Russion Prime Minister Chernomyrdin's visit last
week. I realize this was a last minute request and that it also took
several hours to locate the right resources to complete. It was a job well
done and I want to again personally express my heart-felt appreciation for
your special contribution to the overall success of that meeting.
Sincerely,
John

As many of you may know, Vice President Al Gore and Russian Prime Minister
Viktor Chernomyrdin visited Cisco yesterday. We were asked to host the
private meeting by Vice President Gore as part of a roundtable discussion
between business and academic leaders from Silicon Valley and a large
delegation of business and
government leaders from Russia.
More than two dozen Silicon Valley CEOs and academics participated in the
2-hour meeting. The meeting focused on how the new Internet economy will
change everything and how it affects all countries. We also talked about
the opportunity the new Internet economy will create in Russia, as well as
unique Russian assets, such as their highly educated workforce.
I want you to know Cisco was truly honored to host such an event and I
think it begins to speak to the level of influence we are making as a team
and as a company with government leaders. I believe it also demonstrates
that value Cisco is delivering to our customers and some of the recognition
that goes along with that position.
John
